Equi-Sport owned by Jill Fuselli has partnered with L & M Stables east of Calgary, approximately 20 minutes from the city limits.
L & M, which is owned by Earl and Tamara Abrahamson, boasts a new 70 x 180 ft indoor arena with 12 box stalls, a wash rack, and tack rooms. Outside, riders enjoy the large 200 x 200 ft outdoor ring, round pen, as well as ride in the open fields.
Jill runs the entire hunter jumper program at the stable and manages the riders. She has been in the business of training riders and horses for 20 years, both in the Calgary area as well as in lower mainland BC. This has given her the opportunity to ride with many great instructors in all disciplines.
She has competed successfully in dressage, three-day eventing, hunter jumper, and has also trained and shown young Sport Horse prospects. This makes her a well-rounded rider and instructor, and also gives her the ability to match great horses with her riders.
The Abrahamson’s are hands-on owners, operating and running the care of the horses and development of the property. They are both accomplished horse people raising and training their own reining horses and breeding quality Quarter Horses. They own a Quarter Horse stallion and many broodmares, and are training a few of their young prospects for the show ring in 2007.
The boarders primarily consist of equine enthusiasts who focus on the competitive hunter/jumper discipline. Jill is careful to manage the training of both the riders and the horses alike. She encourages the riders to become well-rounded horse people that truly care for the health and well-being of their mounts.
They train to compete both in the Novice Levels right up through to top, Level A-circuit competitions. Jill believes in developing strong foundations in flat work and equitation, which pays off, as her riders have enjoyed many wins and championships over the past years.
Jennifer MacGregor, who helps in the training of the jumper riders, assists her. Jennifer is an absolute asset to this team as she has an extensive background in jumpers having competed with the Spruce Meadows team as a junior rider.
She is very dedicated to the young jumper riders and passes on her valued jumper experience. Both Jill and Jennifer work well as a coaching team and there is a unique chemistry in their individual coaching styles.
Earl’s attention to detail shows in the quality of feed and condition of the horses that are either boxstall or paddock boarded. He maintains a rigid health program and feeding schedule for all of the horses, as well as keeping the stables clean and safe and adding more to the facility as the clientele grows.
Boarders are happy with the friendly, casual family atmosphere that work and support each other as a team. The families and riders have enjoyed trips to horse shows, social events, Christmas parties, and just hanging out at the barn on pizza night. They also appreciate the fair and competitive pricing of board and lessons that are offered.
