The Calgary Stampede crowned the 2007 Royal Trio during the afternoon performance of Rodeo Royal on April 22.
The 2006 Royal Trio, Queen Cheryl Dafoe and Princesses April Kanderka and Terri Murray, handed over their crowns to Queen Amanda Kochan and Princesses Amanda Byrne and Caia Morstad.
Amanda Kochan
Kochan, 20, is in her second year at Mount Royal College, where she is working towards her marketing degree. Kochan enjoys breaking young horses and riding competitively. Kochan also enjoys baseball, golf and giving lessons to intermediate riders.
Caia Morstad
Morstad, 24, has earned a degree in agricultural economics, with a minor in business from the University of Saskatchewan. She is currently working at Bow Valley College as a business and financial analyst. Showing and riding horses has been a large part of Morstad’s life and she has received recognition at the provincial, national and international level.
Amanda Byrne
Byrne, 21, is a native Calgarian and is currently attending Mount Royal College. Byrne was a member of the Canadian National Luge Team. In the future Byrne would like to own her own ranch and compete in reining competitions.
The Royal Trio are official representatives of the Calgary Stampede and the city of Calgary, and make over 400 appearances during their reign.
