Griffin Quarter Horses is a family owned and operated business located in southern Alberta and southern Oklahoma.

Lance Griffin along with his wife Terry and daughter Samantha have been involved with horses for many years. In the beginning you could find the Griffin’s travelling down the road from team penning to team penning with their four-horse trailer in tow.

In 1995, that all changed as Samantha began taking reining lessons – their world was never the same. Lance and Samantha headed to their first reining horse show, which was the first ever Cardston Derby, in Cardston, Alberta.

The Canada Quarter Horse Cup Futurity (2005) television broadcast won the Multimedia category of the American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA) Marketing and Media Awards.

These awards recognize outstanding coverage and promotion of horses, people, and events within the American Quarter Horse industry. The Canada Quarter Horse Cup Futurity is hosted annually by the Rocky Mountain Turf Club in Lethbridge, AB, and is Canada’s richest Quarter Horse race.

When my 11-year-old daughter approached me about getting a horse, I didn’t say yes and I didn’t say no.

“You’re not old enough for a horse; you have to wait until you’re 12,” is what I said.

Having settled the matter, I snatched the TV remote and turned on the History Channel.

“Dad, I’ve been 14 for three months.”

Fourteen? Horse people often resort to this sort of trickery to get what they want. But I knew exactly how to handle it. Balancing the remote between my palms, I looked at the ceiling and said, “A horse is not a cat.” I flipped over to the Discovery Channel.

Twenty athletes have now been named to the 2007 Canadian Show Jumping Team short list.

The first ten riders are named to the Canadian Show Jumping Team based on their standing in the FEI Gandini Jumping Riders’ world ranking list as of December 1, 2006. The additional ten riders are selected based on their final standings in the 2006 Jump Canada Series.
