The tall man pushed his Stetson back slightly on his head and looked puzzled. “Well, from what I know, she’s about 95 per cent right on with everything she’s said about my horse!”
From his boots to his hat, he looked exactly like what you’d expect of a range-riding wrangler. Only two things spoiled the image: here he was at the Canadian National Exhibition grounds in Toronto, and he was wearing a cordless mike headset. Here was Joe Dunphy, the man who can “bomb-proof” your horse.
Five minutes ago, he had just finished his clinic on natural horsemanship at the Royal Winter Fair and was walking his equine partner, Romeo, back to his stall when a stranger took his arm. “Look,” she said to him, “the horse that I was supposed to meet here has not shown up yet. Come back into the ring and I’ll talk to your horse.”
